Paulina Villarreal Joins Ponce Project’s Latinoamérica Viva! 2026 as Guest Artist

Dr. Paulina Villarreal joins the Ponce Project Music Foundation as a guest artist for Latinoamérica Viva! 2026, an annual concert series dedicated to celebrating and advancing Latin American classical music. Villarreal will appear as featured mezzo-soprano in a program centered on the vocal music of Mexican composer Manuel M. Ponce.

Joined by pianist Ilonka Rus, Villarreal will perform four of Ponce’s song cycles, including settings of poetry by Enrique González Martínez, Francisco A. de Icaza, and Francisco González León Urbina, alongside a group of Mexican songs. The program reflects Villarreal’s longstanding commitment to the performance and advocacy of Latin American and Iberian vocal repertoire and to bringing this repertoire to wider audiences.

The evening will also feature pianist Rodolfo Morales performing works by Ponce and Colombian composer Christian Restrepo, as well as young artists presenting selections from the Latin American piano repertoire.
